Peter Goepfrich is co-founder of GIC and Vice Chairman of GIC, with a special focus on industrial and commercial relations with Germany and the European Union as well as on Legal Affairs and Advocacy.
He is one of the most longstanding and experienced representatives of the German business community in the MENA region. For more than 30 years he was the Official Delegate of the German Industry and Commerce for Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Libya and the Palestinian Territories and since 2008 for the countries of the Persian Gulf Region.
Starting from 1986 Peter Goepfrich served as the CEO of the German Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) in Cairo/ Egypt as well as the CEO of the German-Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK) in the United Arab Emirates from 2008 until 2015.
Beeing one of the most prominent and experienced German representatives in the MENA region, he has set-up a proven high level network with top decision-makers in Germany, the European Union and in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the wider MENA-Region (Middle East North Africa).
He holds a PHD in Law (mcl), from the university in Heidelberg/ Germany and is a highly reputed lecturer for law in various forums in the region, such as AWI.
Besides he is founder and CEO of of LEA (Law and Economy of the Arab and Islamic World), a Center of Competence, affiliated to the University of Heidelberg.
